WARD, ROBERT DONALDSON
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Robert Donaldson “Don” Ward which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Friday, October 2nd, 2015.
Born 1934, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Mason) Ward. Don worked as a Linesman at the Port of Saint John for 46 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Saint John Y’s Men Club for 29 years, a member of the Saint John Stamp Club, and a season ticket holder of the Saint John Flames and Seadogs. Don enjoyed playing racquette ball, fishing and cooking. He was an avid reader and great lover of pets. He had an amazing sense of humour and a generous spirit.
Don is survived by his loving wife Eleanor (Yeomans) of 61 years; son Dwight (Brenda) of Guelph, ON; daughters Angela Stilwell (Roger) of Saint John, Alison Fitzpatrick (Brian) of Saint John; sister Rose “Sammy” Colwell (Walter) of Saint John; sister-in-law Dianne Cale of Waterloo, ON; grandchildren Stephenie, Peter, Brianne, Caitlin, Colin, Quinn, Kieran, and Liam; great-grandchildren Cameron and Rheanne; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his brothers Larry “Major” and Murray; sister Laura “Peggy” Campbell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, October 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 6th at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
