Sheldon Moore

Sheldon Bruce Moore formerly of East Leicester, age, 98, passed away on September 28, 2015 at East Cumberland Lodge. Sheldon was the youngest boy of 11 children born September 15, 1917 to the late William Angus and Sarah Jane (Dobson) Moore of Mansfield NS.
Sheldon operated a farm in East Leicester for many years, was a woods worker and produced maple syrup products. He also loved music, singing in church choirs and especially liked entertaining with his harmonica. He was an avid hunter, and fisher, and was known for his fudge making. Family was an important part of his life and he was interested and kept involved in their activities.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Bruce (Madelyn) Moore, Marven (Ruth) Moore, Howard Moore, Lee (Elsie) Moore, Ann (Alan) McKay, Wayne Moore, Gwenda (Eugene) Mattinson, Betty (Stephen) Mattson, Ruth (Charles) Stock, Neil (Donna) Moore, Marney (Leigh) Gilroy, Keith Moore, Teresa (Chris) McLaughlin, Thornton (Kim) Moore, Beverley (Jim) Corbin, and Andrew (Lisa) Moore, as well as 28 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Sheldon was predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Isabelle Iona Ripley; his eldest daughter Ellen Clarke; brothers, Archie, Byron, Cecil, Spurgeon, Corey, Avard, Lewis, Edward; sisters, Letisha, Eva, Jean; one daughter in-law; one son-in-law, and one granddaughter and two great grandsons.
Special thanks to family friend Mick Huey, staff of East Cumberland and the many visitors for their caring and support over the past few years.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of W Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford (902-447-2167) where a time of visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015. A funeral service will be held from The Oxford Baptist Church, Oxford, NS on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 2 pm. Burial to follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mansfield Cemetery or East Cumberland Lodge.
