BOBBY RAYMOND DEVEAU – January 24th 1973 – October 1st 2015 - It is with deep sadness and gratitude that we let you know that our much loved friend, Bobby Deveau left us October 1st 2015. Bobby was predeceased by his loving mother, Mariette (nee Saulnier). He is survived by his father Raymond Deveau, his step-mother, caring half siblings, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Bobby will also be deeply missed by his loving and caring family at L’Arche Homefires in Wolfville. Bobby shared his life with L’Arche Homefires for 24 years and during that time he touched countless people. Bobby welcomed, lived with, trained and taught so many of us. We were transformed by this tall, handsome and gentle man. Bobby was a man capable of great emotions, sadness, anger and incredible laughter at times. He loved watching people, especially certain people whom he found hilarious. Often from nowhere, Bobby would start to laugh and soon everyone was laughing. Through Bobby’s life he endured many serious health issues, surgeries and indeed great pain at times. He did not complain and we often said Bobby would win the award for being the most patient patient! In the last month as Bobby’s health declined, he again gave us the gift of his presence as people sat with him for the last four weeks, never alone. He blessed us with blown kisses, Bobby noises, sticking out his tongue at us and most wonderfully those special Bobby Deveau hugs – once received never forgotten. We have gathered with Bobby, in prayer and song. We have massaged his hands and feet and given many kisses. He received phone calls and e-mails from past assistants who told him how special he was and how much they appreciated him. His last gift to us has been these weeks where we could say goodbye. In his fragility Bobby drew us all closer to him and closer to each other. We will miss him terribly but we rejoice that he is a better place and that he is again reunited with his Mom, Mariette who loved him deeply. Visitation took place at the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville on Sunday, October 4th from 6:30–8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville on Monday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m. Bobby was laid to rest beside his mother in Saulnierville Cemetery later that day. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bobby may be made to L’Arche Homefires, 10 Gaspereau Ave., Wolfville, NS B4P 2C2 or on-line at Canada Helps.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
