McINTYRE-KELLY, ROBERT
Robert “Bert” McIntyre-Kelly passed away peacefully on Monday October 5, 2015 at the Mountainside Lodge, Island View, NB at the age of 87. He was born in Toronto, ON on September 27, 1928 a son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Hagan) McIntyre and husband of the late Bridie McIntyre-Kelly.
His father and mother moved the family back to their home in Glasgow, Scotland where he was raised with his brother Thomas. At 18 he joined the British Army where he served for two years. He then enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. It was at this time he met the love of his life Bridie Mary, his wife of 56 years. Stationed to Camp Gagetown he moved the family, settling down in Fredericton, after being honorably discharged from the Canadian Army. Robert always had a love for the Military and could be found on many a Saturday watching military pageants and listening to the bag pipes at Officers Square.
Survived by his son Michael; granddaughter Alahna; sister-in-law Frances; daughter-in-law Laura.
Aside from his parents and wife he was predeceased by a son Mark and brother Thomas.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at which time a celebration of Robert’s life will be held with Msgr. Brian Henneberry officiating. Interment in the Hemitage Cemetery. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the burial.
