Clair Warren Davison - 96, of Gaspereau, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Clair was born in Wood's Nursing Home, Port Williams on March 30, 1919. He was the oldest son of the late Edwin and Wava (Coldwell) Davison. Clair's education took place in Gaspereau, Wolfville High School and he was a graduate of Horton Academy, class of 1938. He grew up on what became Dabro Farms in the Gaspereau Valley. He spent his working life farming the lands of Gaspereau, Newtonville, Greenfield, Wolfville and Grand Pré Dykes with his father, his brother, Lorne and later, his nephews, Shawn and Darren. As a young farmer, he attended local farmers meetings and enjoyed participating in plowing matches and learning new methods of farming. Clair was a member of the Gaspereau Baptist Church, where he had been a member of the choir, treasurer and a deacon. After retirement, Clair and Laura took an enjoyable ten weeks to travel across Canada in their van. They were members of the High Tide Drifters Camping Club for more than 25 years. Clair acted as president of the Gaspereau Gems and Jewels for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Lana (Terry) Ashby, Newtonville; two sons, Barry (Brenda), Black River Lake; Philip (Lisa), Bishopville Road, Hants County; a brother, Lorne (Hulda), Gaspereau; grandchildren, Belinda (Ronald Rideout) Davidson, Brenton (Hailey) Davidson, Tammi (Andrew) Forsythe, Darren Ashby, Andrew (Jessie) Davidson and Samantha (Michael) Carpenter; great grandchildren, Owen, Paige, Hudson, Madilyn and Zoey; two nephews, Shawn (Laura) and Darren (Nadine) and their families; several cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Laura (Coldwell) in 2012; two great grandchildren, Emma and Madison. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Gaspereau Baptist Church. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Gaspereau Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Wolfville Nursing Home for their care, kindness and compassion.
