Vera Giesbrecht
December 28, 1955- October 13, 2015
With great sadness, we announce that Vera Mary Giesbrecht went home to be with her Saviour at the age of 59 years on October 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the first of 6 children born to Peter and Mary Giesbrecht.
Vera was predeceased by her father, Peter, in 1993. She is lovingly remembered by her fiancé, John Bryanton (Cornwall, P.E.I.); mother, Mary Giesbrecht; siblings, Gary (Barb) Giesbrecht, Roger Giesbrecht, Ken (Vicky) Giesbrecht, Joan (Arnie) Enns, and Glen (Lori) Giesbrecht; and her nieces and nephews to whom she paid special attention to, Wendy, Brian (Sara), Donna (Bryce), Daniel, Elliott, Laura Lee, Michelle, Janel, Jenna, Lesa and Ethan.
Vera attended Estey School and Mount Royal Collegiate, and later took training at the Kelsey Institute. She was a Medical Laboratory Technologist for the Saskatoon Health Region for 35 years, from 1977-2013. Vera loved travelling, which is how she met John. She was very artistic and enjoyed photography, zentangle, painting and theatre. Vera was fond of nature walks and birding. One of her greatest joys however, was spending time with all her nieces and nephews, and her two cats, Mocha and Pogo.
Thank you to all of Vera’s family, friends, neighbors and healthcare providers for the support during her time of illness.
A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon) from 2-4 p.m.; a short program will be held at 3 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Vera’s name to St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care (St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, 1702 20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7M0Z9).
