Suzanne Donovan Purdie
Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: October 18th, 2015
It is with profound sadness and deepest regret that we announce the passing of our loving mother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Suzanne Donovan Purdie, 66, on Sunday, Oct.18, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Sydney.
Suzie had worked for many years as a Respiratory Technologist (RRT) at first the Sydney City Hospital and later the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. To her many coworkers and friends, Suzie was known for her gigantic heart, her quick smile, a fun loving personality and for her love of helping others. This devotion to the care of others was not limited to her time in the hospital, as her loving family and friends can attest to. Suzie was always there to help, to listen, to teach and to inspire. Throughout the years, her love for her family was a driving force in her life, especially to her sons, but also to her nephews and nieces. In her later years, she showed unbridled joy in the antics of her grand nephews and nieces. Suzie has also lived a life enriched by a love of reading, and she was always truly content either surrounded by family or curled up with a good book, especially if there were a dragon or two in it!
Suzie is survived by her two sons, Michael and Morgan Purdie; her sisters, Marsha Melski (Bob), JoAnne Andrews (Dave), Kelly Donovan (Daryl Ferguson) and her brother, Patrick Donovan (Margie); as well as nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins and relations too numerous to name.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Jeanne Donovan; her sister, Marjorie Donovan (Wilma Perry) and her husband, John Purdie.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. To celebrate the spirit of her life, a gathering of family and friends will take place on her birthday, Saturday, October 24.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA Cape Breton Branch. Interment arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
