It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Gerald Joseph Campbell, age 71, on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, on April 15, 1944, Gerald was the son of the late Peter Kenneth and Ethel Mary (MacKinnon) Campbell. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or. Gerald taught school for a period of time and then later worked for Sydney Steel Corporation until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Boutilier) Campbell; his son, Paul Gerald (Margaret MacSween) Campbell, Guelph, Ont., and daughter, Gina Marie (Vance) Jessome, Fredericton; his precious grandchildren, Phoenix and Riel Jessome, Lauchlan and Theodore 'Theo' Campbell; his sisters, Betty (James) Young, Sydney Mines, Mary (Clement) Pouliot, Timberlea, Catherine Demont, Halifax, Alice Wilson, Halifax and brothers, Peter (Sheila) Campbell, North Sydney, Donald Campbell, Sydney Mines and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Demont.
Visitation for Gerald will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or Bras d’Or Hall Roof Fund.
