John Robert MacGillivray

With broken hearts we the family of John Robert MacGillivary, 56, of Gabarus, regret to announce his passing on Oct. 21, 2015, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Robert was the son of Margaret (MacDonald,MacGillivary, Robar) and the late John S. McGillivray.
He was a graduate of Holland College where he became a paramedic - his life-long dream. Robert worked out of North Sydney until his health forced early retirement.
His love of everything connected with cars,was well known, as well as his love of car races and his many friends involved with racing. He was a founding member of the Gabarus Fire Department.
Robert is survived by his wife Judi (Mills), daughter Nicole (Conor) Donovan, son Mark (Monique) and a grandson that he adored, Myles. Mother Margaret Robar, sisters Eleanor (Eric) Winsor, Port Hawkesbury, Sandra (Kevin) Weaver, Bridgewater, also many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the Marion Bridge Fire Dept., paramedics, the staff at the ICU department of the CBRH, family and friends, and also Rev. Nancy Whitney-Latham.
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Lakeview Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Gabarus Fire Hall, led by Rev. Nancy Whitney-Latham
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
