Paul Douglas Robertson

Born In: Sydney

Passed on: October 28th, 2015

On the afternoon of Oct. 28, 2015, my dear husband, Paul Douglas Robertson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, sister Jennifer and his close friend, Gary Oates.
Paul was born in Sydney and was the son of the late Nick and Rita (Muise) Robertson.
He is survived by his wife, Shauna (Hines); son, Kyle, Calgary; daughter, Katie, Ottawa. His stepsons, Jesse, Benjamin and Samuel Abbass, all of Halifax. His brother, Nick, Alberta; brother, Wayne (Lita), Sydney; sister, Rita, Sydney and sister, Jennifer (Clarence), Sydney and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Paul graduated from the Police Academy in 1980 and served in the Sydney Police Department. He enlisted in the Calgary Police Department in 1981 after reading an ad asking if you wanted to drive a fast car and carry a gun. In Calgary he served in different units including the Canine Unit. This experience stayed with him for the rest of his life.
Paul’s happiest days were spent with his wife, while being self-proclaimed caretaker of his cottage. He and Shauna created many happy memories at their Narnia cottage. They travelled to Cuba, Mexico and drove through the Rockies on some of their incredible vacations. Paul enjoyed watching himself on a You Tube video created by his friend and brother-in-law, Jason Hines, of Paul scuba diving in beautiful Cozumel.
Paul courageously battled a very short time with cancer. Throughout it, he relied on his very strong faith in God and embraced the joy of those that were there and loved him.
Paul and Shauna were married on August 21st of this year. Paul found great joy and comfort from his new found family, the Hines, Mulvihills and Murphys.
Paul leaves behind a group of very close friends who loved and supported him through his life and illness. A heartfelt thank you to Paul’s sister, Jennifer Robertson; Charles and Eddie MacKenzie, Gary Oates, Ronnie and Donna, his 'Cottage Family' from Black Rock, and the caring staff from 4A.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. With funeral service to follow at 2 p.m in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.‎
