It is with great sadness the family of Nellie Lillan (Banks) Dalton, wife of the late Lawrence V. Dalton, announce her passing on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home at the age of 98 with her family by her side. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her husband Larry in heaven.
Nellie was born at Bull Lake, NB on January 7, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Murray and Cleadie (Morehouse) Banks. In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was predeceased by her sisters Freda Corey (Sherman), Gertie Keating (Stan) and Mabel Smith (Clarence) and many nieces and nephews. Nellie is survived by son Jim Dalton of Kanata, ON her daughters Marilyn (Bob) Whittaker of Saint John, NB and Heather (Wayne) Bauer of Tecumseh, ON; six grandchildren Paul (Kim) Whittaker, Shelley (Brian) Morgan, Jennifer Taylor, Melissa Taylor, C.J. Dalton, Mark Dalton; eight great-grandchildren Kealy & Dalton Whittaker, Taylor, Emily & Benjamin Morgan, Conner, Kalie & Abigail Dalton. She was an adherent of the former Fundy Heights Baptist Church, Charlotte Street Baptist Church and Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a tenant of Carleton Kirk Complex for over 30 years.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home for their support and care of Nellie during her 5 year stay.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 3, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Nellie’s life will follow at 2:00 pm from Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Nellie’s memory can be made to IWK Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice. www.castlefh.com
