EDNA PAULSEN

Edna Margaret Paulsen of Prince Albert died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino, SK, at the age of 100 years. Daughter of John Frederick Keyser and Kate Helen Davis, Edna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Monday, August 2, 1915. When she was 4, her father was killed in an accident and the family moved to Rosetown to live with her uncle, Stan Davis. At 18, Edna moved to Prince Albert and worked as a babysitter, then worked in the laundry at the Prince Albert Sanitorium, where she contracted tuberculosis. When Edna recovered from her illness she worked for M & C, sewing covers for Tiger Moth airplanes used in WW II. In 1942, Edna married Borge (Pete) Paulsen. Over the years they worked together to build up their contracting and excavation business. After retirement, they purchased a farm in Lily Plain, which had always been a dream of Pete’s. After Pete's death in 1986, Edna moved to a condo where she spent many happy years. During this time, she often traveled with friends and family. She kept busy with her involvement with the church, as well as her knitting and quilting. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed time with her many grandchildren. In 2009, a stroke caused her to move into assisted living. This past summer Edna celebrated her 100th birthday. Edna was predeceased by her parents, her brother Royal, sisters Violet and Edith (Lang), her husband Borge, her son Aksel, her daughter Lorna, her granddaughter Andrea and her great-grandson Legend. Edna will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Barbara Bustin and Sonia Herndier, daughter-in-law Margaret, her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. A lunch will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the Arbor Lounge at River Park Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015, at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert. In lieu of flowers, persons wishing to make a donation on behalf of Edna can do so to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, 200-4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4W 0G3, or a charity of their choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 306-764-2727, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director.
