HANS KARSTEN KUCK

Born: April 11th, 1943

Passed on: October 23rd, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved father, husband, grandfather and uncle passed away, surrounded by his family at Lions Gate Hospital.
Hans Karsten Kuck was born April 11, 1943 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Hans grew up in Wiesbaden, Germany with his sister Schnecko, mother Lix and grandparents Carl and Mia. In 1964, Hans met Christine in the Jersey Islands and they immigrated to Canada and married.
Hans was a doer and always got the job done – as such, he led an extraordinary life full of adventure and achievements. Hans’ love of dogs led to an amazing success with his pride and joy Nanuk of Cheslang – a Canadian and American Field Trial champion. For 37 years, Hans flew small aircraft across BC, Alberta, Yukon, Nunavut, Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho. Hans worked for CP Air in the 1970s, then owned Lord Jim’s Lodge, and pioneered the first generation of salmon farms on the Sunshine Coast. Always the consummate entrepreneur, Hans took up new business ventures with gusto!
He was widely travelled, and highlights for him included travelling to South America not once by twice, the second time rounding the Cape of Good Hope in Antarctica. In preparation for this adventure he learned Spanish. He also flew five separate trips to the Arctic Circle, flying his own small plane.
In the last few years, Hans took up sailing. He retrofitted and refurbished his Conchita Too. His last sailing trip was August 17 to September 1: a beautiful 14 days around the Howe Sound area.
Hans leaves behind his wife Christine, daughter Kirsten, son Michael, son-in-law Dan, grandchildren Emma, Grace, Karsten and Jack; his sister Gerda, brother-in-law Fritz, nieces Bettina and Annette, and nephew Bernhard. We are so saddened by his quick passing, however, are comforted that he is now peaceful and looking down on us. He showed tremendous courage during his brief and quick battle.
Please join us in a Celebration of a Life that was lived, on November 15, 1:00 pm, at the Club House at Elphinstone Aero Club at Sechelt Airport, 4540 Hilltop Road. In Hans’ memory, please support jacketsforjasper.com
