Passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family at her home in Burlington, Ontario, on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, in her 66th year.
Beloved wife of Larry. Loving mother of Jason, Geoffrey, and Emily. Dear sister of Carol Anne (Bill) Sidney, Alan (Kathy) Brown, Shane (Debbie) Brown, Coleen (Scott) Logan, and Liam (Holly) Brown. Cherished daughter of Mildred, and the late William Brown (1967). Jane will be sorely missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jane had the kindest soul, the sharpest wit, the biggest laugh, and the most giving heart. To be loved by Jane was a blessing. She cared so deeply for others, and touched so many with her infectious joy. She was the embodiment of compassion, and showed this throughout her career by caring for other children as if they were her own; as an RN at the IWK-Grace in Halifax, as well as the Dartmouth Medical Centre, and later looking after “her babies” at Woodland Children’s Centre. Jane courageously fought cancer for ten years — breast cancer, kidney cancer, and for the last three years, metastatic breast cancer. She fought like a warrior, never standing down, but God knew she needed rest, and has called her home.
Thank you to the many medical professionals who helped her along the way, especially the CCAC, and Saint Elizabeth Health Care in her final days.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333) on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Rd., Burlington, on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall.
