McLEAN, ELDON WILLIAM "BILL"
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bill McLean of Dartmouth, NS. Originally from Grand Bay-Westfield, he was the son of Eldon and Kathryn MacLean.
He was Sports Director with Bell Aliant TV1 and the host of Inside Atlantic University Sports. Bill loved all sports and dedicated his life to sharing the love and the excitement of the game. As a boy, Bill could recite statistics from every baseball, basketball and hockey cards off by heart. He was an avid runner, participating in many marathons. Bill also enjoyed fishing. He was an inspiration to young athletes while he coached basketball at UNBSJ, Brandon University in Manitoba and St. Mary’s in Halifax.
Billy will be deeply missed by his daughter Sadie Kathryn and her mother Alissa Maloney of Halifax, his partner Christa Greenwood of Dartmouth, his sisters: Bonnie (Donnie) Johnson and Julie (Brent) Vail of Grand Bay-Westfield, his niece Kaylie Johnson, nephews: Tryell Vail, Jared Johnson and Cole Vail along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 13 at 2 PM from Grand Bay Baptist Church, 77 Woolastook Drive.
