Dorothy McCauley

McCAULEY, DOROTHY MAY
Dot was called home early on Friday the 13th after a brief illness, but a lengthy recovery from a recent surgery. Up until the evening of the 12th, Dot was reading her newspaper, complaining about the food at the DECH, and smiling that she would soon be back at Shannex and having lunch with “the girls”. She so enjoyed her Bingo, CNN, her chats with all the nursing staff at Shannex, sending and receiving any kind of cards, the odd cigarette out on her deck on Brookside and the occasional can of Moose light. She was so proud to say that she was clerk/supervisor at Tingleys Save Easy on Main St. here in Fredericton and really, really enjoyed her retirement years. We all know Dot as a “giver” and that she was always there for anyone in need, and sometimes for people who were just looking for handouts.
Dot was born a MacIntosh in Westville NS in 1927. She was the daughter of the late Angus MacIntosh and the late Mary Anguss. She was a mother of two, a sister to six other brothers and sisters, an Aunt to many nieces and nephews, a friend to everyone.
Dot was predeceased by her parents, her husband William, and her son Bill. She and her antics will be truly missed by her daughter Rhonda Dingman of Rockledge Florida.
In lieu of flowers, we think that Dot would rather have any and all donations be forwarded to the Fredericton SPCA or to the charity of donors choice.
A short memorial service will be held at the chapel in Thomas Hall at Shannex on Patients Lane at a later date. Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (339-6612). Memories of Dot may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
