On November 17, 2015 Joyce Llewellyn (nee MacDonald / Lightizer) passed away suddenly in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 88 years.
Joyce was born January 4, 1927 in Tignish, Prince Edward Island. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cathy (Niels) Nielsen; three granddaughters, Ellen, Christine and Lise. Predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Lloyd Llewellyn in 1997, father, Peter Aeneas MacDonald and mother, Hylda MacDonald (MacEwan).
Joyce lost her parents as a young child and was adopted by the Lightizer family in Charlottetown, P.E.I. She met Lloyd in Charlottetown and they eventually came to London, ON where they were married and made their home. In 1993 they moved to Edmonton, AB. The Catholic faith was important to Joyce and she was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years.
Prayers will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 23, at Connelly- McKinley - Edmonton South Chapel, 4820 Meridian Street (Meridian Street can only be accessed by heading SOUTH on the Anthony Henday - Hwy 216. The exit ramp is 1 km SOUTH of the Sherwood Park Fwy.) Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Theresa's Catholic Parish, 7508 - 29 Avenue, Edmonton. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 4814 Meridian Street, Edmonton (directions same as above to Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in remembrance of Joyce may be made to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
