Thomas (Tom) Lovestone

Thomas (Tom) Bernard Lovestone, age 88, of Swift Current SK, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00, Friday November 20th from the Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The pianist was Wendy Cochrane and the piper was Nicole Rewerts. The Eulogist was Larry Johnson. The Urnbearers were his granddaughters. Tom is survived by his children, Bev (Larry) Johnson, Ron Lovestone, Guy Lovestone, Terry (Sherri) Lovestone, and Wendy (Don) Yolland; his grandchildren, Darren (Trish) Johnson, Kris Johnson, Dean (Cheri) Yolland, Jamie (Brittanni) Lovestone, Maygen (Rene) Alexander, Josh (Tanis) Lovestone, Cody (Rachel) Yolland, Randi Yolland, and Taylor and Nicole Dixon; his great-grandchildren, Aydynn, Blake, Charlie, Emersen, and Avaeah; and his sisters, Ines Prosick and Marcel (Bill) Wright. He was predeceased by his wife, Reta Lovestone, his mother, Roberta Nelson, his father, Gilbert Lovestone, his sister, Jackie McLeod, and his brothers-in-law, Jake McLeod and George Prosick. Tom attended school in Swift Current and married Reta. He was employed at Eaton's for 37 years and worked at the Swift Current Fire Department. Tom was a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion. The best of Tom came from you, his community. His cup overflowed with the warmth of his friendships and the love of his family. Tom lived simply. What you saw was what you got: laughter, generosity and kindness. He loved people and life, always giving his all. In his younger years, he played hockey and softball and hung out with his buddies that became lifelong friends. He later took up curling and golf, continuing his life-long enthusiasm for athletics. The Legion Poppy Fund was a passion of his. He headed the Poppy Fund for eight years and continued to contribute to its success until his passing. While Tom was with the Swift Current Fire Department he was commended for his bravery for saving 5 lives while in perilous circumstance. The Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Flames, Swift Current Broncos, Labatts Blue, Poppies, the Legion, laughter, love, joking, and smiling all characterize Tom. He will be missed!
