It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Benjamin James Stubbert at the age of 78, on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born May 30, 1937 in Groves Point, he was the son of the late Irving and Lillian Stubbert.
Benny was a crane operator at Sydney Steel Plant for 30 years, til his retirement. He also played the fiddle with his friends at Rollies Wharf. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with his sister, Kathleen.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan (Dunn); his parents, Irving and Lillian Stubbert and brothers, William and Earl Stubbert.
He is survived by his only sister, Kathleen Hannem.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Funeral service will be held on Friday Nov. 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Burial to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
