James Duplacey

DUPLACEY, JAMES JOSEPH
1954 - 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James "JJ" Joseph Duplacey on December 1st, 2015 in Fredericton, NB after a long illness.
He is survived by his spouse, Peggy Bertelsen; sister, Jeanne Melanson (Paul) of Moncton and brother, John Duplacey (Susan) of Fredericton. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Bertelsen family, Don, Brian and Marlene.
James was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Dorothy (Currie) Duplacey.
James was a writer, hockey historian and great supporter of the arts and all sports. He loved his Toronto Maple Leafs. He had been the curator of the Hockey Hall of Fame in the early years when it was at the CNE grounds in Toronto. From there, he was managing editor for the NHL Guide and Records Book for many years, as well as Exhibit Editor for the new Canada Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary, in which he took great pride. He was a founding member of SIHR (Society for International Hockey Research).
TNB was very important to James. He was with the Young Company in its early days and recently he returned to the stage in the production of "Beaverbrook" which gave him great joy.
His love and knowledge of music was never ending.
At his request there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be at a later date in Chatham, NB.
In lieu of donations, Jim would prefer everyone to support their local sports associations or the arts by attending a local game or special event of their choosing.
McAdam's Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. www.mcadamsfh.com
