THOMPSON, Joan Darlene (nee Olson)

After a lengthy illness Joan passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2015 with her family by her side. Joan was born on March 28, 1942 in Landis, SK spending her early life on the farm. Her family eventually settled in Moose Jaw, SK. There she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart Keith. They remained there until they eventually retired back to Saskatchewan at the Sun Valley Resort at Buffalo Pound Lake. There Joan continued her lifelong love of nature, gardening, fishing in the local lake and walking along the prairie. Joan was a lifelong care giver and spent her life devoted to her family and friends while working as a health care aid and teaching assistant. Joan was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Clara Olson. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Keith; children Rob Thompson, Margot (Michael) Henson, and Christian (Corinna) Thompson; sister Yvonne Johnson; brother Bryan Olson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was known for her zest for fun, her love for family and friends, and her generosity. She was a loving wife and mother and a great example to all on how to live life to the fullest. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service was held.
