GRASS, PHYLLIS EILEEN
Phyllis E. (MacLean) Grass of Lake George, NB passed away unexpectedly at the home of her daughter Kathy on December 4, 2015. Phyllis was born at Lake George, NB in 1932, a daughter of the late Lemuel and Frances (Courtney) MacLean.
She served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corp, Signals Division, joining in 1964. She was a founding member of the Lake George Snowmobile Club and co-chair of the Lake George Concerned Citizens Group. She was employed with the Daily Gleaner for several years as advertising manager but for much of her life she worked alongside her husband in their various endeavors. Phyllis joined the Ladies Auxiliary of McAdam Branch 7 in 1958 and the Royal Canadian Legion in 2007.
She is survived by her children, Joanna (Jim) Corning, Larry (Beth) Grass, Kathy (Claude) Sprott, all of Lake George, NB and Cindy (Beverly) Calhoun, Hawkshaw, NB; ten grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Beulah Lawson, McAdam, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, John G. Grass in 2005 and a brother-in-law, Charles Lawson.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday, December 7, 2015. At 2 p.m. the members of the McAdam Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service, followed by the visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jennifer Brown and Rev. Kendell McRae officiating. Interment will follow at the Magundy Sand Bank Cemetery.
