ORYNIK, Jerzy (George) – George passed away quietly on December 5, 2015 at Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls. Loving father of Roman (Kim) Orynik of Prince Albert, SK and Anna (Rob) Douglas of Niagara Falls. Grandfather [Dziadek] to Tristan Douglas of Toronto, Robyn Douglas of Niagara Falls, Jared (Jana) Orynik of Saskatoon, SK, Jennifer (Travis) Eveleigh and Adrian (Alyssa) Orynik, all of Prince Albert, SK. Great grandfather [Pradziadek] to Isabelle and Andrew Orynik, Jacob and Cole Eveleigh. George was born on May 5, 1926 in Poland. He is pre-deceased by his loving wife Elizabeth, parents Anna and Stefan, and 2 brothers Jan and Stefan. He is survived by his brother Josef (Marysa) and many nephews and nieces in Poland. George served in the Polish Army during WWII. After discharge he lived in England, where he met and married Elizabeth (Walshaw) in 1950. They immigrated to Canada in 1952, eventually settling in Niagara Falls. They enjoyed a long marriage of 63 years. George was a good and successful family provider working at the Ford Glass Plant until retirement. He spent many happy days fishing along the shores of the Niagara River or on lakes of Northern Ontario. Gardening was his passion, raising beautiful prize-winning roses, and receiving many awards from the Horticultural Society. George is famous in the family for cooking delicious soups and dinners. George was a kind and generous man, known for his friendly nature and quick smile. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Our thanks to all of those at Queenston Place Retirement Residence for their smiles, kindness, and caring ways these past 5 years.
Cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life and scattering of ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert SK or a charity of choice would be appreciated. Donations may be made through MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, ON.
