Gladys Marie MacMillan

The death of Gladys Marie MacMillan of Charlottetown occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Due to the untimely death of her mother, Gladys was raised by her loving and caring grandparents, the late Archibald and Margaret (MacPherson) Matheson and their family in Bellevue, PEI. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Laughlin and Isabel (Matheson) MacMillan, many Matheson, MacMillan and Panting family members, and special friend Roy (Buck) Whitlock.
She is lovingly remembered by her Matheson first cousins David (Angela), Jeannie (Mike), Steve (Patsy), Sheila (Frank), Janet (Vince, deceased), Tom (Jacqueline), and Andrew, her Panting first cousin Frank (Lettie, deceased) her stepbrother Ken (Doris) and stepsister Florine (John, deceased), niece Cheryl (Damian), nephew Rick (Andrea) and Buck Whitlock’s children, Bobby (Rosemary), Kathy (Greg), Christine (Roger) and Roy. In addition to family, Gladys had a very wide circle of friends of all ages, including neighbourhood children and dogs, who visited her regularly.
She touched and had a positive effect on the lives of many people through her work, volunteer and social activities. Gladys was employed many years with the Canada Employment Centre (Service Canada) in Charlottetown and Summerside. She was a C.G.I.T leader for 20 years and Elder at Spring Park United Church, and Trinity United Church, Summerside. She was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Charlottetown Rotary Club and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for her years with the John Howard Society, PEI and Canada.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment in Valleyfield Cemetery. Visitation Monday 2-4 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Valleyfield Cemetery.
