It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the death of Joan (MacMillan) Crouse on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.
Born in Sydney, Oct. 5, 1936, Joan was the daughter of the late Alex and Florence (Redmond) MacMillan.
Joan attended Sydney schools and graduated from Sydney Academy in 1954. She entered City Hospital’s School of Nursing and received her RN in 1958. She proceeded to work in Halifax at the Children’s Hospital, then, after her marriage to Don in 1960, she nursed at Moncton City Hospital and Hotel Dieu, in Moncton, N. B. She was highly praised for her nursing skills, her compassion and devotion to her patients.
Joan is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don; daughters, Karen (Peter, Connor) and Anne (Amer); son, Sandy (Brett); granddaughters, Rachelle and Nicole (Justin); sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Don) MacLaren.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A private family service is being planned.
Memorials in Joan’s memory may be sent to Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Haven for the wonderful care given Joan during her years there. We will be forever grateful for your kindness and compassion.
