
Neil Eric Gilchrist
GILCHRIST, Neil Eric – 80, Bible Hill, passed away suddenly, due to heart complications, on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at home. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Murray and Marjorie “Marge” Gilchrist. In earlier years, Neil worked at a thrift shop in Hamilton, Ontario, and then went on to start his trucking career and worked with Norris Transport in Hamilton and later with Barnhill Transfer. He then worked at Department of Transportation where he was a supervisor of a highway maintenance crew. He loved to sing, enjoyed horse races, fishing and converting school buses into campers that he and his family enjoyed immensely. Neil is survived by his children, Cindy Gilchrist, Rick Gilchrist (Kelly), Terri Gilchrist, Heather Gilchrist, Tim Gilchrist (Karen), all of Ontario; Shawn Gilchrist (Terry), Millbrook; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Neil’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
