At the Kings County Memorial Hospital on December 17, 2015, James Frederick (Fred) Murphy, of Summerville, P.E.I., passed away.
Beloved husband of 35 years to Vera Bertha (James) Murphy. Survived by his stepdaughters, Shirley Sheppard and Patricia Delores Allen, and his stepson, Perry Sheppard; sisters, Georgina Acorn, Stratford; Betty Hegarty, Charlottetown; Doris (George) McDearmid, Charlottetown; brother, John Murphy, Vernon Bridge; brother-in-law, Reg Noonan, Borden; sister-in-law, Florence Murphy, New Perth. Also survived by his stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Sanderson, Freda and Heber Stewart, Harlan James, Ward and Hattie James, Margaret James, Mabel Brothers, Bruce and Marilyn James, Lottie and Ron Driscoll, Brenda Brindell and Albert and Stephanie James. Sadly missed by 14 step grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Fred was born in Vernon Bridge on April 29, 1941. He was the son of the late James Frederick and Monica (Henry) Murphy. He is also predeceased by his step in-laws, Charles and Emily James; sisters and brothers, Amanda, Pat, Lucilla, Alfred, Eleanor, Jackie, Emmett and Vernon Murphy; sisters-in-law, Lois and Marlene Murphy; brothers-in-law, Alden Peppard and Matt Acorn; step brother-in-law, Wallace James. Also predeceased by his stepson, Carl Broda Sheppard, and his stepdaughters, Golda Sheppard and Darlene Sanderson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ferguson Logan Funeral Home, Montague. Cremation has taken place. Visiting hours Friday, December 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral to take place from Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, New Perth on Saturday, December 19, at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at the Community Cemetery, Dundas, P.E.I.
