Gerald Arsenault

Arsenault, Gerald “Gerry”
1947-2015
Gerald “Gerry” Arsenault, 68, of Moncton, passed away on December 18th, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Gerry smiled and lived with cancer for over seven years. His positivity and energy would always light up a room, even the doctor's office. His attitude towards his challenges was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Born July 22, 1947, in Moncton, he was the son of the late Aurèle and Gertrude (Comeau) Arsenault. He was a member of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic church. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Family Centre for many years.
Born into a business family, Gerry attended Collège St-Joseph, Memramcook, and Université de Moncton before venturing into an entrepreneurial career that allowed him to create many life-long friendships along the way. Having had the courage to return to the classroom later in life and upgrade his business and computer skills, Gerry eventually joined the federal public service and retired from Service Canada.
Gerry's most memorable times were spent at Parlee Beach with his kids, numerous nieces and nephews and eventually with his grandchildren. Trips to Florida were made even more special when hosting friends and family. With Gerry, you knew if there was a special occasion, lobster would be on the menu. His grandchildren brought out the best in him; he would have done anything for them, even heading out on a road trip to discover new water-theme parks or sliding down big snow hills late at night.
Dedicated to his family, Gerry is survived by Anne-Marie née LeBlanc, his beloved wife of 46 years; five children: Natalie (Jeff McManaman), Jeff (Caroline), Paul (Sylvie Cormier), Richard (Chantal Robichaud), and Marie-Claire (Neill O’Reilly); eight grandchildren that he adored: Samuel, Isabel, Dominic, Isaac, Claire, Jacob, Danielle and Charlotte; his brothers and sisters: Pierre (Gloria), Normand, Raymond (Linda), André (Verna), Louise, Simonne (Gerald), Suzanne (Jim), Denise (Jim); many nieces and nephews.
He is also predeceased by his brother, Éric (late Lucille).
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, December 21 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 pm.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Gerry, this holiday season we ask that you make a contribution of time or money to a local charity or family, and be a good neighbour.
