We regret to announce the passing of Ralph Trenchard, 76, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Ralph currently resided in Sydney with his wife Margaret but previously lived in Sydney River and grew up in Reserve Mines.
Ralph was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years and loved to tinker in his garage. He could fix just about anything.
Ralph worked at the old Cape Breton Hospital as an attendant for many years before the hospital was amalgamated when at that time he went to work at Crossroads Clubhouse. He had 45 years of service in mental health when he retired in 1995. He was a previous member of the Sydney River Volunteer Fire Department.
Ralph is survived by his dedicated wife Margaret of 51 years; daughter Annie (Allan)Outlaw, Texas; son Arthur (Sandra), Sydney; son Allister, Sydney; sister Sheila (Peter) Woodington, Calif.; sister Sharron (Danny) Gentile, Boston; sister Glenda (Ian) Trenchard, Dartmouth; sister-in-law Charlotte (Bruce) Mortimer, Sydney; sister-in-law Susan Campbell, Sydney; grandchildren Stephanie, Jeffrey, Ashton and Jillian; great-grandchildren Tyler, Madison, Jaydon, Kerian, Chase, Cruz and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Tina and Arthur Trenchard, Reserve Mines, father-in-law Sid Campbell, mother-in-law Eva Campbell and brother-in-law Joseph Campbell.
Cremation has taken place as per Ralph’s wishes. Visitation will take place at Chant’s Funeral Home on Dec. 22, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Ralph’s memory to COPD Canada, Canadian Lung Association or Prostate Cancer Canada.
