MESSERVEY, Mildred Irene, age 90, of Hantsport, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by her family. Born on May 5, 1925, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sadie (Whitehead) Hines. Mildred was a great mother to her 10 children. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Kentville Branch 006, of the Royal Canadian Legion and was awarded her lifetime membership pin. When she was a resident of New Minas she was an active member of The Highland Club. Mildred is survived by her children, Judith (Clarence) Swinimer, Drumheller, Alta.; Keith (Aletha), Mountain Rest, SC, USA; David (Debbie), Red Deer, Alta.; Ruby (Walter) Smiley, Bishopville; Ann (Joseph) Kelly, Halifax; Harry (Hannah Marie), Bedford; 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; 6 great step-grandchildren; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, W. Donald Messervey (1975); children, Doreen Bowers, Linda Conners, Donnie Messervey, and Douglas Messervey; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. A celebration of life, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015, in the Hantsport Baptist Church, Main St., Hantsport. The Rev. Mark Hunter officiated, followed by a reception in the church hall. Private family interment was held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Arrangements were under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, (902-798-2232) 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. No flowers by request, and donations in memory of Mildred, were requested to be made to the Hantsport Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
