HURLBURT, Joan Eleanor – age 53, of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on December 17, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Yarmouth, N.S. on April 5, 1962 she was a daughter to the late Brad Muise and Joyce (Haley) O’Connell. Joan had a great life, sometimes hard, but it only made her stronger. She gave her heart to the Lord when she was 18 years old and God has seen her through everything since then. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved her family dearly. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years Lindsay Hurlburt; daughter, Kristin Leigh; grandson, Darius Kai; brothers, Tony (Lorraine) O’Connell; John (Debbie) O’Connell; Michael (Beth) O’Connell; sisters, Sharon (Mike) Meuse; Debbie (Terence) LeBlanc; nieces, Lisa, Kaleigh, Felicia, Terrilee; nephews, Nicholas, Corey, Michael, Christopher, Kyle, John (Daphne), and Trevor; as well as many friends. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Joan’s life was held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Larry Pennell officiated. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only please. An account has been opened at Royal Bank of Canada in Sharon Meuse and Debbie Michaels-LeBlanc in trust for Joan's grandson Darius Kai.
