It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John F. 'Frank' Hawley, 67, on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Ingonish Harbour, Frank was the son of the late William Hawley and Mary E. (Barron) Hawley.
Frank was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. He was employed by Devco, as an electrician, for many years where he worked in 12, 16 and Lingan Colliery. He retired in the early 1990s. Frank was a best friend to his family and all who knew him.
Beloved husband of Geraldine Hanrahan. Devoted father of Patrick (Nancy), John Blair (Jen); stepchildren Tanya (Terry), Lori and Jason (Liz). Also survived by sisters, Rose (Wayne) Summers, Stella (Angus), Clara, Virginia, and Wilma; proud 'poppy' to nine precious grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by brothers Michael, Clayton, Patrick, Fr. Pius Hawley and sisters Pricilla, Annie and Kathleen.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass to celebrate Frank's life will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Church, Fr. P. Murphy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Patient Comfort Fund, An Cala Palliative Care Unit or Holy Redeemer Building Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
