1948 - 2015
Anthony “Tony” Grant, 67, of Saint-Antoine, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at his residence. Born on October 1, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late George and Dorothy (Wyndham) Grant.
Tony was a veteran with the US Army Rangers 101st Airborne and had been deployed twice in Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator with the City of Moncton. A music lover, his many talents included being a composer, drummer, self-taught guitarist and sound engineer. He had been on tour with April Wine and different bands in Europe.
He is survived by his common-law wife, Carmen Léger; two sons: Jayson Grant (Courtney Kinney) of Moncton and Derick Brito (Kim) of Connecticut, US; two step-sons: Réjean Léger (Manon Landry) of Saint-Louis and Gabriel Léger (Jennifer) of Truro, NS; four grandchildren: Gia, Cruz, Derick and Latavia; two step-grandchildren: Jean-Sébastien and Sophie; three great-grandchildren: Derick, Quinnell and Kaylia; three brothers: Gregory of Connecticut, Paul of South Carolina and Gerry of California; a special cousin, Vanessa of Washington; his former wife, Huguette Gosselin of Moncton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three sisters: Marissa, Debra and Carolyn; one brother, Mark.
By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 am followed by a reception. Interment will be in New Haven, Connecticut.
