Mary Bernice MacPherson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Bernice MacPherson at age 75.
Bernice passed away suddenly but peacefully on Dec. 29, 2015, at home.
Born on Feb. 10, 1940, Bernice was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Burke) Kuta.
She is survived by her husband Bernie Ryan. She is survived by her sons Larry (Donna) Moncton, Andy (Todlynn) Bible Hill, Alex (Stephanie) Ottawa, and Chris (Marie) Kangiqsualujjuaq Quebec; her sisters Joan and Leona (Nonnie). Bernice is also survived by her loving grandchildren Larry, Brooke, Jenna, Fiona, Issac, Megan and step-grandson Samuel.
She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary (Burke) Kuta, and first husband Lawrence MacPherson.
Bernice will be missed by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernice graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She nursed at Glace Bay General Hospital, St. Joesph’s Hospital, Glace Bay Community Hospital and the Cape Breton Hospital in Sydney River. She was an avid sports fan and loved harness racing and watching hockey. Her love for animals was passed on to her children.
Visitation for Bernice will be held Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, 7-9 p.m. in Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Norman MacPhee at Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, Glace Bay at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernice’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
