TANNER, FREDERICK ROBIE PETER
Frederick Tanner, Age 83, of Prospect Bay, N.S. passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness, with his wife, Edie, by his side, on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late
Frederick and Mildred (Covey) Tanner. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Edie (Russell). He will be sadly missed by his seven children, Paula (Bill) Yochoff, Fred (Jenny), Stephen, Tim (Joan), Joe (Donna), Toni (Giulio) Scavella and Tori; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Laraine (late Ken) Scott; sisters-in-law Janet Tanner and Barb MacLaren. Brothers-in-law Doug (Marie) Russell and Ron (Pauline) Russell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 22 years, Marie (Fahie), brother Joe and brothers-in-law Ray and Fraser Fahie.
He was employed as a building inspector for CMHC for 33 years and the Municipality of the County of Halifax for 11 years. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, cooking, gardening, wine making, trailering, his dogs and a tall cool one on his deck overlooking Shad Bay.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service as per his request.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of QEII Units 4.2, IMCU and the Palliative Care Team, as well as the compassionate VON nurses.
