Kirk Johnson

The death of Kirk Douglas Johnson, 54, of Oxford, occurred unexpectedly in Cornerbrook, NL, on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Born in Hamilton, ON, Kirk was a son of the late Walter Johnson and Helen (Chapman) Johnson of Oxford.
Kirk was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served twenty-one years as an Aviation Technician for the Canadian Armed Forces, and then chose self-employed commercial driver as a second career.
Kirk was a private person with an exceptional sense of humor, who enjoyed wildlife, boating, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a master hobbyist to which his basement and home can attest. He had an ability to fix, repair, or change just about anything. He will be missed by his canine companions, Maggie and Meka.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-four years, Carolyn (nee Lowther), Oxford; a daughter, Joni (Philip) Johnson, Memramcook; two sons, Lance (Teanne) Johnson, Endiang, AB and Myles (Nicole) Johnson, Swift Current, SK; three grandchildren, Sophia, Felix, and Danika; his mother, Helen Johnson, Oxford; a brother, Steven (Laurie), Kingston, ON and a sister, Kim (Reg) Godfrey, as well as several nieces, nephews and special friends, Les, Effie, and Eric .
Besides his father, Kirk was predeceased by a brother, Albert.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) from where a time of public visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, at 2 pm.
