MALCOLM, DAVID JOHN
David Malcolm passed away Wednesday, January 6 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
David leaves behind his family whom he loved deeply and who miss him already: wife Elizabeth, children Richard (Kathy), Ann (Craig Lord), John (Tammy), and Jeannie (Chris Cyr), eight grandchildren Karen and Alison, Heather and Janet, Ian and Madeline, Gwen and Anna, and two great-grandsons Sawyer and Emmett.
Born August 26, 1931, David was the son of the late William and Marion (Mallinson) Malcolm of Montreal.
He is survived by brother Rev. Robert (Margery) Malcolm of Saint John, and sister Shirley (Peter) Ingram of Toronto, sisters-in-law Margaret (Burt) Oliver of Saint John and Mary (Charles) Wanamaker of Hampton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
David was respected for his integrity and fairness in all his endeavours: he worked in rural development and extension services with the NB Dept. of Agriculture, as provincial 4-H Club Director in Newfoundland, as co-editor and writer with the Plain Dealer newspaper, and for 18 years with CBC Radio. Motivated by an inner generosity and empathy for others, David gave his time to individuals he met, and to a number of organizations including: his local church (for the past 45 years at Skyline Acres Baptist), Opal III, Boy Scouts of Canada, the Gideons, and the Fredericton Tree Commission.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Sunita MacMullin and the staff of 4-SE and 4-SW at DECH, for their excellent and compassionate care for David.
Visitation on Sunday, January 10, 2:00 to 4:00pm, and a funeral service on Monday, January 11 at 2:00 pm, will both be held at Skyline Acres Baptist Church, 135 Canterbury Drive, Fredericton. Bishop’s Funeral Home have been entrusted with arrangements. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
