James 'Jamie'  Patten

We, the family of James Frederick Patten, regret to announce his passing on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Jamie was a son of the late Frederick and Florence (Matheson) Patten.
He was past master of Tyrian Youth Lodge #45, Glace Bay and an affiliate with various other lodges. He was appointed as District Grand Director of Ceremonies of Cape Breton Center District for the masonic term 2002-2003 by the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia. Until retirement, he was employed as an installer with MT&T.
Jamie is survived by his sister, Joanne (Dale) Redmond, Bedford; niece, Kerry Ann Redmond, Bedford, who nicknamed him 'Ducky' over 40 years ago, which remained with him to date; nephew, David Redmond, Red Deer, Alta.; cousin, Judy Patten, who was very special to him. We are very appreciative of the special care she provided Jamie. He is also survived by many cousins, as well as the residents at Maple Ridge Seniors Complex, who were very supportive of Jamie during his illness.
Besides his parents, Jamie was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth.
Funeral service and interment will be held in the spring.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff of the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to Jamie.
