Charles William (Bill) Oderkirk

Charles William (Bill) Oderkirk
With broken hearts we say goodnight to an amazing man. Born April 22 1924 at Thomson Station to Lydia (Rose) and Fredrick. Dad grew up with nine siblings and married the late Norma (Hines) the love of his life, mother of his children.
Dad worked the rails with C.N from 1956 and remained there until he retired in 1985, but not one to stay home he retired on a Friday and went work the following Monday for the gypsum on the rails and continued for years…His love for his family went without saying and although he was our Dad we learned to share him with many as his love stretched way beyond his children .Dad enjoyed working in his gardens and his hobby farm which provided many wonderful meals for many families. Dad was well known and if you told folks whose child you were oh the stories you would hear. The jokes he played on people the helping hand often provided was all a part of the gentle soul. So many lives has been impacted by just a mere conversation
To help put a smile on your face food in your body was to him a great achievement .Dad loved music and when time allowed playing it on his harmonica; guitar or piano gave him great pleasure.
Dad’s two surviving sisters, Susie and Audrey and, brother Ed knew to keep your hand over your cup and your back to the wall otherwise they were the end of his mischievous behavior a trait not lost on his boys and girls.
Thank you to the VON and Homecare workers who helped his family care for him so he could remain in his home until his last week .To the Truro hospital Staff for their insight and care.
Predeceased by his wife Norma son David, daughters Cheryll and Sandra, grandson Stephen and great grandaughter Kaeleigh sisters Gladys ,Margorie, Mona ,brothers Max, Harvey, Mel.
