Laura Grieve

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laura Grieve on January 12, 2016. Born on September 19, 1916 in Minton, SK, Laura was the seventh of ten children born to Sylvain and Celeste Goessaert. In 1937 she moved to Moose Jaw, and one year later married Gerald (Gerry) Grieve. Together they shared many wonderful years raising their family. Laura was predeceased by her mother, father, husband Gerald (1982), son Jim (2000), sisters (Palmyre, Gabriel, Irene, Norma) and brothers (Basile, Andre, Henry, and William). She is survived by her daughter Linda (Ken) Burant, son Terry (Susan) Grieve, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, sister Lavina Johnson, sisters-in-law Ruth Goessaert and Laura Goessaert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. For many years, Laura was a member of Trinity United Church. She was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Lynbrook Golf Club; few summer days passed without women's league play or just a round of golf with friends. During the winter months Laura was a member of the Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday night bowling leagues. Thursday nights were always reserved for the Ladies Arts & Crafts Association, with her many creations adorning her home for decades. Laura and Gerry had many close family and friends with whom they enjoyed spending time playing golf, dancing, hosting annual New Year's Eve parties, and traveling to Las Vegas and California. Laura also maintained close ties with all of her siblings, and looked forward to extended visits with them in Radville, Plentywood, and Vancouver. In accordance with her wishes a private family service will be held. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at both Chateau St. Michael and Extendicare for the excellent care provided over the last six years of Laura's life.
