Julie Rivet-Pootmans

RIVET-POOTMANS, Julie Anne
February 3, 1962 - January 14, 2016
It is with great sadness we announce Julie's passing on Thursday, January 14, 2016 after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer. Julie is survived by her daughter Sarah (Jeremy) Diacon and their children Ava, Ali and Charlie of Moose Jaw, SK; her son Cody Pootmans of Ottawa, ON; her parents Roger and Anne Rivet of Kingston ON; her sisters Lisa Beechener of Mississauga, ON and Michelle Rivet of Kingston, ON; her loving partner Dale Nash of Moose Jaw, SK and his son, Dylan Nash of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as many friends and extended family. Julie was born February 3, 1962 in Scarborough, ON, grew up in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, PQ and came west to Moose Jaw in 1991. Julie was a strong willed, spirited and brave woman with an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile. She left everyone she met a better person for having known her. Her compassion knew no bounds, and nothing made her happier than helping someone in need. Her children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Julie loved nature, the outdoors, animals and fine art. She was an incredibly passionate cook and loved to spend time in the kitchen preparing meals for those she held dear. She had an incredible eye for detail and put her personal touch on every aspect of her life. She knew what she wanted and would settle for nothing less. These aspects of Julie were most evident when she and Dale built their dream home at Buffalo Pound Lake, where they spent countless hours enjoying each other's company and the beauty that surrounded them. She was a much loved and dedicated employee of Moose Jaw Gibson Refinery, where she worked as Logistics Coordinator. She loved her job and all of the people she worked with. Julie was a very loving partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed forever. A CELEBRATION OF JULIE'S LIFE will be held on her 54th birthday, February 3, 2016 from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Sportsman Centre, 276 Home Street East, Moose Jaw, SK. As per Julie's request, there will be no funeral service. Flowers gratefully declined, but donations in memory of Julie may be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, 1755 Stadacona Street W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or Moose Jaw Transition House, Box 1866, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7N6.
