Gladys Gavell

GAVELL, GLADYS
Gladys Gavell passed away peacefully on January 18, 2016 at her Serenacare home, Moncton, at the age of 88. Born and raised in Sydney, NS, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Peter Dallien.
She married the love of her life, John (Jack) Gavell in 1949 and had three children. Together they raised their family, moving throughout the Maritimes with Jack’s job with CNR from Cape Breton to PEI and finally to the Moncton/Riverview area.
They were faithful members of St. James Anglican Church. Mom was an active, hardworking member of the Talent Chapter/ACW and Altar Guild. She was also proud to have created one of the Church Year banners hanging at the church.
After the children were grown, she worked at Sears for several years and in her later years, was active in the Riverview Seniors group. She enjoyed travelling, whether camping trips with the family or after retirement, further afield. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter; she enjoyed visiting them and their visits with her.
She is survived by her sons, Philip (Stephanie) NL, David (Collette) AB, daughter, Beth (Bob) Cole Moncton, grandchildren; Kirsten (Shawn) Canning, Ryan Cole, Hilary (Nick) Cole and great-granddaughter Emma, and well as her sister Louise (Des) Nugent of Halifax and brother Peter (Yvonne) Dallien of Port Hawkesbury.
She was predeceased by her dear husband, Jack and brother Bill.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday January 21, 2016 from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 101 Fairview Dr., on Friday at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Donations in Gladys’ memory may be made to the St. James Memorial Fund or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
