Special friends, too numerous to mention. Special thanks to his "buddy" home caregiver Elsie Jarvis, the staff at Meadow Creek Retirement Home, and the staff at the Miller Centre. Roy grew up on Lime Street in downtown St. John's. At an early age he left The Model School to enter the workforce to help support his mother. He started as a delivery boy for Dicks & Co, working up to the position of plant foreman and operations manager...at "The Sign of the Book" for 42 years. Throughout this time, he met wonderful Marg with whom he shared the rest of his life with. Roy and Marg enjoyed many happy years in their retirement at their lovely "Ponderosa" on Fowler's Road, having moved there from Mt Pearl after raising "the two boys" of whom they were so proud of. Whether it was at home, at the cabin in "Turk's Gut", or at family get-togethers, Roy truly enjoyed seeing family and friends... and you knew this before long by his familiar "hee-hee" giggle! "Poppy No" always enjoyed a good laugh. In his fine workshop, Roy's passion and skills as a woodworker were evident by his many crafted projects: extra smooth, with great attention to detail. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Rd. on Wednesday from 7 - 9 p.m. And Thursday from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Service will be held on Friday January 22, 2016, in the Carnell Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m. Cremation to follow, interment at a later date.
