John Angus  MacPhail

It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of John Angus (Scrapper) MacPhail, which occurred at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Oban, Richmond County, he was the son of the late Hugh John and Catherine May MacPhail.
John is survived by his wife, Peggy, also left to grieve are his children, Shonna (Hector), Dwayne (Valerie), Kevin (Dale), Linda (Dave) Benvie all of Sydney. John was a beloved poppy of five grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, T.J. , Silas and Coady, whom he dearly loved. Sister, Sharon (Angus) MacDonald, brothers, Wayne (Nancy), Wendell (Shirley), Sherman (Cheryl) and sister-in-law, Anna. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Joan, Jean, Jesse, Betty, Eva-Belle, Thelma and Shirley; brothers, Winston, Melvin and Calvin.
John retired from CBRM Public Works Dept. in 2004, after retirement, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing tree removal for which he was well known. He loved fiddle music, stepdancing, hockey and spending time with his family and friends. John was well known for his great sense of humour, by all whom he met.
Visitation will take place on Monday, Jan. 25th in the River Bourgeois Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be Held in St. Peter's United Church, Tuesday, Jan. 26th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Victor MacLeod and Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating with burial at a later date.
Donations maybe made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
