Owen Ross Simmons passed away peacefully at Pioneers Lodge on January 21, 2016, at age 80. Owen was born October 26, 1935, residing in the Rockglen district, at Fife Lake, and the town of Rockglen before moving to make his home in Moose Jaw. He married Gladys Holmes in 1972 and they raised 3 children. Owen worked at various jobs, eventually working in the kitchen at Valley View Centre until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed a good game of cards, reading western novels and making various items out of anything he could find – the ultimate recycler! He loved to walk, ride his bike, and was a man of the earth. He had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, cats, fish, and horses. Owen was a member of AA for many years. He is survived by his children: Linda Gall (Stephen Anderson), Kandis Simmons, and Leon Simmons (Debbie Clemmensen); and two adopted children, Jennifer Davison (Joe Johnson), and James Davison; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters; and his former wife Gladys. He is predeceased by his son-in-law Kevin Molloy and grandson Joey Johnson. The Celebration of Owen’s life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery on Thursday at 2:00 pm. Donations to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated.
