Reid, Barbara “Jean” – 85, River John, It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Reid, in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Born in River John, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Flora Brown. Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her family was her world. Jean was a lover of animals, music and was known for her great sense of humor, which she never lost. She spent her later years listening to music and singing. Jean is survived by her daughters, Sharon Langille and Donna (Howard) Misener; both of River John; sons, Terry (Linda), River John; Greg (Lisa), Scotch Hill; Rick (Beryl), New Glasgow; Randy (Vicki) Cavanaugh, Truro; sixteen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Sutherland, River John; Marlene (Raymond) MacDonald, Toney Mills; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Maynard; companion, Elton Benjamin; son, Larry; great-grandson, Hank; sisters, Delminnie Brown and Helen Falconer; brothers, Henry, Joe and Rollie Brown. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 26 in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, River John with a reception to follow in the Church Hall.
