The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, of Fredrick Peter Dale of Summerside, aged 92 years. A Veteran of World War II, Fred was born in Lewisville, N.B., to his late parents Jeremiah and Elsie (nee Petrie) Dale. Fred is predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Elaine (nee Perry) Dale. Treasured by his seven children: Pat (Max London) Labonte, Perry Dale, Libby (Craig) Dolsen, Kathy (Bob) Ibel, Julie (Paul) Richard, Bobbi (Jim) Kelly and Jeremiah Dale. Also lovingly remembered by his 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He considered his life blessed by family. Fred is survived by his sister, Dora Mae Parrott of St. John’s, Nfld. Predeceased by his sisters Florence MacDonald, Daisy Simpson and Mary Freeman Beverley. His awesome hugs will be missed by all. During his lifetime he worshipped Mother Nature and passed this passion on to his family and grandchildren. He was a hero to all of us. Fred spent his younger years on a farm in Kent County, NB, later moving to Moncton. After his World War II service, he worked for CN out of Moncton and a few years later joined the RCAF and spent 20 years moving his family from coast to coast in his beloved Canada. Retiring in 1973, he became an Islander when he moved his family to Prince Edward Island. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the staff of PCH and a special thank you to Dr. Trina Stewart and Dr. Connie Hoare for their excellent care over the years. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Monday, Feb. 1, from where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Memorial donations in Fred’s memory to the PCH Foundation would be greatly appreciated. By personal request there will be no visiting hours held. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside, Branch #5 along with members of the 200 Summerside Wing will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Monday at 12:45 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to epfuneral@eastlink.ca.
