Peter Getzlaf, beloved husband of Birthe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at the age of 86 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Pauline; daughter, Joan; 4 brothers; 3 sisters and 2 sons-in-law. Peter is survived by his wife of 33 years, Birthe; children: Pat Potts, Kathy (Larry) Ardelan, Stephen (Shieliah), Terry (Sheila), Lawrence (Vickie), Polly (Mark) Mondor, Gerald (Angela), Alex (Michele), Michael (Michelle), Wivi (Darryl) Kesslering, Wendy (Ron) Johner and Judy (Wayne) Wark; 35 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Peter was born on the farm at Avonlea, SK and farmed in the Briercrest and Avonlea areas. Peter and Birthe lived on an acreage by Caron for 30 years, and then moved into Moose Jaw. He was an avid hunter and skilled craftsman, and everyone loved his homemade sausage. Peter and Birthe loved to dance, garden and play cards with friends. Peter was loved and respected dearly by his family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and we were blessed to have him in our lives. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Paul Drive, Moose Jaw, SK with Reverend John Kreutzwieser officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
