It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful son, brother and uncle, Raymond Wells, age 47, at the QEII Hospital in Halifax on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, with his family by his side.
Born in St. Lawrence, Nfld., he was the son of Monica Kelly, Glace Bay. Ray was a drywall tradesman and was employed with local businesses.
Raymond will be sadly missed by his dog and best friend, Cuddles. An avid guitar player, Ray loved to play and sing for his family and friends.
Raymond leaves behind his mother, Monica; brothers, Les (Dianne), Darryl (Tracey) and sisters, Deanna (Greg), Barbie and Tammy (Darren).
Also left to mourn his passing are his father, Lesley Wells, Newfoundland, many aunts, uncles, cousins; special niece and godchild, Kailey; special nephew, Cole, who knew Ray as their "Gungi", also nephews, Jonathon, Nicholas, Brendan and his niece, Chelsea.
Ray will be sadly missed by his maternal grandmother, Eileen Kelly, Newfoundland; brothers-in-law, Shane MacDougall and Dennis Truckair.
Ray was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Bob Kelly; paternal grandparents, Ray and Harriet Wells and his stepfather, Harry Murphy.
In keeping with Rays wishes, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, followed by a reception in the church foyer. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Ray may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
