Madeleine Gauvin

GAUVIN, MADELEINE
1910 - 2016
Madeleine Gauvin, 105, of Résidence O Bon Soins in Shediac, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2016 at her residence. Born on June 6, 1910 in Saint-Antoine, daughter of the late François and Sylvie (Goguen) Allain.
Madeleine devoted her life to caring for loved ones, including her mother, step-father, and husband. Some of her most admirable traits include courage, patience, generosity, perseverance, faith and unselfishness. Through volunteering in the Roman Catholic church, she became even stronger in her faith. She kept active, participated in the community fitness programs, loved dancing, swimming and playing darts. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed travelling.
She was eternally grateful for the extended care the staff at O Bon Soins gave to her. The staff went beyond all expectations, and treated her more like a family member than a patient. For this, we, the family, will always be forever grateful.
She leaves behind six children: Généva Haché (Jean-Victor), Léonard (Irène), Roméo (Liliane), Alfred “Fred” (Roberte), Fernande Hatton (Donald) and Lorenzo (Daphnie); one sister, Emma Richard of Waltham, MA; 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Willie; two sons: Laurie (Mercèdes) and Robert (Rita); one grandson, Robert; two sisters: Olympe and Regina; three brothers: Henri, Edouard, and Jean-Baptiste.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 9:30 am until time of departure (10:15). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac on Friday February 5 at 10:30 am.
Donation in memory of Madeleine can be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the Vestiaire Saint-Joseph Shediac. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
